Prof. I.A. Mohammed-Dabo was born in the ancient city of Kano, Nigeria. He studied Chemical Engineering in Russia, obtaining his MSc and PhD degrees from the prestigious Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas, Moscow, Russian Federation. He had experience at Moscow Oil Refinery, Oil and Gas University, Moscow and the Nigerian Embassy, Moscow before joining Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria where he is presently a Professor of Chemical Engineering. He held various departmental and university positions including Head of Department of Chemical Engineering. Currently, Prof. Dabo is the Deputy-Dean of Students Affairs and Team Leader of the of ABU Minirefinery Development Research Team.
Prof. Mohammed-Dabo’s research areas include Petroleum refining and petrochemicals processing, Renewable energy, Environmental Pollution Control and Pilot Plant design and development. He has participated or spearheaded development of many processing technologies such as sugarcane-based Bioethanol plant, Jatropha-based Biodiesel plant and Cow dung-based Biogas plant. He is the Chief Designer of the First-ever Nigerian-made conventional pilot scale Petroleum refinery located at ABU Zaria. Prof. Dabo has supervised over 90 MSc and PhD students and has over 100 scientific publications credited to him. He is a COREN Registered Engineer and member of various National and International Professional Societies. He is happily married with children.
